GMTM did mention that he has made some calls for a "D" player.

Now that I actually read the blog, Michael doesn't think a big splash is happening.

Sad.

Would love to see that one more move for a top 4 defenseman.

I'm glad GMTM stayed out of the pool yesterday. Lot's of overpaying everywhere. Wow.

Still a couple months to make a deal . Teams will let the frenzy die down. The prices should come down as we get closer to the season start.

Even if there is no other big signing or trade, it was still a hell of last few months for the Sabres.

It will be fun to watch this team next year, unlike the last two years.

I wouldn't have minded the Justin Williams deal. That's a great deal for Washington, a player like him should help them achieve more playoff success.

I don't feel the Sabres are ready for a player like Williams just yet. I do think Murray is working the phones and I believe they are still in on Oduya (no inside info there just my hunch). I would still like to see a forward or two packaged for some blue line help regardless if Oduya signs or not.

We could have used Green and Williams, both were good deals.

As of right now, I don't think this team is really in a position to lure in the the top tier guys without overpaying them, and I really don't think those are the kind of players that Murray wants around - guys whose incentives are more money driven than a desire to win.

This up-coming season is definitely going to be a kind of "wait-and-see" year to evaluate our talent on hand. We have plenty of skill in the pipeline, and why overshoot for a top-tier FA now when someone like Psysk could turn out to be a super-star.

So I had an interesting debate with my brother on the phone last night.

Which team is going to be more exciting/relevant/successful in the up coming years.

The Bills or the Sabres?

I said the Sabres, he said the Bills.

My reasoning was pretty simple the Sabres are stacked with talented young players and while the Bills might make the playoffs this year and the Sabres could miss the Sabres are still built for long term success with Eichel, Reinhart, ROR etc.

I said until the Bills get a QB they will never be considered a contender.

What say you guys?

I like Williams but to me he's a guy you pick up at the deadline.

Both terms were surprisingly good for each team. I don't think Williams would have considered Buffalo just yet though.

Looking at Bruins roster, won't be surprised if they move Krug. Loss of Hamilton means they need more D than Krug can offer at his AAV.

OMG GMTM make this happen

I wouldn't mind Oduya for a 3 year deal.

If what I posted is true that's the guy you target.

Soupy was brought up. Thats what I would offer.
